So you’re having a party? No party is complete without the standard drinking games. We all know them– beer pong, kings, flip cup, etc. But maybe you’re throwing a theme party and want some unique games to go along with the theme? Or maybe you want to play some new games and switch things up a bit. Or maybe the classics still work?
We’ve got you covered. Our staff got together and came up with their 8 favorite drinking games for parties:
Russian Roulette (or Shot Glass Roulette)
Russian Roulette the drinking game is a ton of fun. And you probably already have the tools necessary to play– a deck of cards, six shot glasses and dice.
Set up is easy– Take one shot glass and fill it with vodka. Then take the other five shot glasses and fill them with water. Then mix up all the glasses so you’re not sure which one contains the vodka. Then grab an Ace, two, three, four, five and six from the deck and place one shot glass on each card.
The rules are simple. Take turns rolling the dice. Whichever number comes up on your roll, you drink the shot associated with that number. Whoever gets the vodka loses (or wins- depends how you look at it!). You can also play with other liquors, it’s just easy to match the clear vodka with water.

If you’d rather buy an actual organized game instead of using cards and a dice, you can also purchase Shot Glass Roulette on Amazon, which is similar in concept but mimics a roulette table from a casino rather than the odds of Russian Roulette.
Don’t Drink And Drive
Don’t Drink And Drive combines a childhood favorite — Mario Kart — with the #1 rule in drinking, which is to never drink and drive.
The game is very simple. You cannot drive your player and drink your beer at the same time. The object of the game is to finish the race first, but the key is that you cannot finish the race until your beer is complete. Therefore, you must find the best times to drink your beer, which is typically as you’re falling off the course and resetting. Is the strategy to chug the beer at the beginning, then finish the race undisturbed? Or do you finish the race, and right before the ending you chug the beer? Or do you simply chug while you’re being reset? The choice is yours, choose wisely!
No matter what game console you have, you can still play “Don’t Drink And Drive”. Mario Kart can be found for the Switch, Nintendo DS as well as good ol’ Nintendo 64.
Tipsy Tower
If you like playing Jengo, you like playing Kings and you like drinking, then you’ll LOVE playing Tipsy Tower. It combines the strategy and steady hand of Jengo, but with the fun of Kings since a rule is printing on each block that you must follow as the blocks are removed one-by-one.
And because a steady hand is necessary to do well, the games get more and more…interesting…as the night goes on. This is also one of our favorite drinking games still acceptable for mature adults to play.
Most Likely
Most Likely is probably the simplest game on this list. Players simply gather around in a circle and take turns completing the following question out loud: “Who is most likely to ______?”. When the speaker is done with their question, everyone points to who they think would be most likely to do what was just proposed.
Each person must take as many sips of their drink as people are pointing to them. Because this is not an aggressive drinking game and does not (typically) involve shots, it’s a great game for sipping a Moscow Mule (here’s our favorite recipe) or an even fancier cocktail.
Slap Cup
Slap cup is a messy, aggressive drinking game that’s not called beer pong or flip cup. The rules are rather complex and it takes a while to pick up, but once you do, it’ll instantly become a favorite.
You start by putting at least 20 solo cups in the middle of the table, however you can use more if you want– the more cups, the longer the game will last. All the cups in the middle are filled with a small amount of beer, about the amount you’d use in beer pong or flip cup. For fun, there’s usually one cup in the center that’s filled to the rim, and it’s usually the last cup to be drunk. There are also always two empty cups around the table, each with a ping pong ball.
The object of the game is to bounce the ping pong ball into the cup. If you get it in the first try, you can pass the ball and the cup to whoever you want around the table. If it takes more than once, you must pass to your immediate right. Eventually, two people next to each other will end up with the balls and cups. If the person to the left gets their ball in before the person to their right, they get to slap their cup off of the table. Since there always needs to be two empty cups around the table, the person who just got their cup slapped off the table needs to grab a cup from the center, drink the beer in it, and then continue to try to get their ball into their cup.

Civil War
Civil war is flip cup and beer pong combined into a team sport. If you know how to play beer pong and flip cup, this is just a more advanced version!
The people on your side of the table are your team. You can either play 2v2 or 3v3. If you play 2v2, there are usually only two balls in play. If you play 3v3, there are usually 3 balls in play. Each person has either 3 or 5 solo cups in front of them in diamond formation filled with a little beer each.
You play exactly like beer pong, but there are no turns– it’s rapid fire. If a cup is hit, the person must drink it and flip it before they can continue to shoot. Once their cups are all done, they can no longer shoot. The last team standing wins.
Beer Pong
We all know beer pong. It’s a classic game. If you don’t feel like explaining rules to a new game to a crowd of drunk people, we understand. This is a great go-to game and deserves a spot on the list.
Flip Cup
Ditto for flip cup. Some groups are flip cup people, some are beer pong. Flip cup tend to be a little more hygienic since there’s no ping pong ball splashing into your beer. Plus you can usually fit more people into one game, which is great for larger crowds.
